Kwara Warns Teachers Against Absenteeism
The Kwara Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr Tunji Moronfoye, has warned teachers in public primary and secondary schools against absenteeism.
Moronfoye told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Thursday that teachers were supposed to be role models who enforce discipline in schools.
He urged teachers to redouble their efforts to promote good value system in enhancing the educational system in the state.
Moronfoye also said the state government would not hesitate to punish any teacher for absenteeism or dereliction of duty.
The commissioner described dereliction of duty as a major factor responsible for the decline in the standard of education in the state.
Moronfoye further said the state government would soon employ more primary and junior secondary school teachers in the state to boost staff strength in the education sector.
He said the state government was committed to improving standard of education in order to make the state a reference point. (NAN)
