20-yr-old remanded for raping 15-yr-old girl
An Ilorin Magistrates' Court on Tuesday remanded a 20-year-old, Musa Raimi, for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl.
The accused was said to have lured the girl into his room and had canal knowledge of her without her consent on May 16 at Offa Garage Area of Ilorin.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp Godwin Azua, told the court that the accused was arraigned on a one-count charge of rape, punishable under section 283 of the Penal Code Law.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
The prosecutor objected to bail for the accused on the ground that the offence of rape was not ordinarily bailable.
Magistrate Shade Lawal ordered the remand of the accused in Mondala Prison in Ilorin and adjourned the case to June 4 for mention.
