Youths to Benefit from 2,500 Motorcycles to Solve Unemployment

About 2,500 motorcycles are to be distributed to youths in Kwara State under Moshood Aigoro Youth Empowerment Scheme to complement government efforts at reducing youth unemployment in the state.

Speaking during the inauguration of the distribution of five of the motorcycles to members of okada riders in Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state, the founder of the scheme, Alhaji Moshood Bola Aigoro, said the essence of the scheme was to support youth empowerment and remove youth out of poverty.

Alhaji Aigoro, who said the foundation had been supporting youth empowerment since 1984, added that loans had been facilitated for the youth and market women with a view to elevate their status economically.

He said many young men and women had been assisted out of poverty to prosperity through his empowerment scheme.

Alhaji Aigoro then urged loan beneficiaries through the cooperative scheme to use the fund for the purpose it was meant, adding that such money should be re-paid to enable others benefit.

In his keynote address on the occasion, the chairman, Chief Theophilus Aiyepeku, commended the idea behind the empowerment programme, adding that the founder of the scheme had been consistent in his activities.

He urged the beneficiaries of the programme to see it as an avenue to assist themselves and the community, urging them to re-pay the loans as at when due.

In her remark, a community leader in the area, Madam Fanimo Bosede, said the empowerment scheme was meant to cut across the 16 local government areas of the state.

She said since 1984, Aigoro has proved to be the father of the youth through his consistency in contributing on matters affecting the youths.
