El-Kanemi Return Refurbished against Kwara Utd
El-Kanemi Warriors coach, Zachary Baraje has said his side’s win against ABS is the dividend of the changes in the attack during the Week Nine transfer window.
The Maiduguri-based side brought in four players during the transfer window to strengthen the side's attack which had been responsible for their dwindling fortune in the 10-week old Nigeria professional Football League (NPFL).
The NPFL newcomers defeated ABS 4-1 on Matchday 10 at the Maiduguri Township Stadium on Thursday with the new additions registering their names on the scorers' chart.
However, Baraje said it will be too early to adjudge the new players as redeemers based on their first day game performances.
“I think the reinforcement we carried out in the attack during the window transfer is beginning to yield positive dividend, all the new players we brought in recently showed class in their debut and contributed immensely in the side's massive win against ABS.
“However, we can’t just conclude based on their debut performances that our worries in the front are over. We’re only praying for them to step up their performance in our subsequent games. I give them kudos for grabbing the headlines in their first game, they performed excellently well,” said the former Nasarawa United coach to supersport.com.
Baraje said his wards are taking their newly discovered winning mentality to llorin to face Kwara United in the NPFL Matchday 11 at the Kwara State Stadium on Sunday.
“We’ve not done further preparation for the game at Kwara United as we’re already on our way to llorin for the encounter.
“We’re positive of a good result more so as the game is coming up at the heels of our massive win against their sister club, ABS.
“We’re yet to pick three points on the road, I’ve not given up hope on that area, I’m still hopeful and who knows llorin could offer us the respite,” he said.
El-Kanemi Warriors are on 12 points from a possible 30.
