Journalists Benefit from Free Eye Test

No fewer than 87 Journalists yesterday benefitted from the free eyes screening organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kwara State chapter as part of activities marking its press week.

According to the consultant ophthalmologist, Sobi Specialist Hospital, Dr Yinka Moshood Jatto, at the programme which held at the council's secretariat, along old Jebba Road, Ilorin, regular eye is an important, adding that the eye is an important organ of the human body.

He also said that people suffering from glaucoma need regular check up of their eyes every six months, saying that early defection of the defeat is treatable through surgery.

According to him, adults should have their eyes tested to keep their prescriptions current and to check for early signs of eye diseases.

Jatto noted that people that have family history of glaucoma should always take their children for regular glaucoma screening in the hospital.

"It is essential that an eye doctor determine what lens prescription will provide a patient with perfect with perfect vision," he stated.

Ophthalmologist however called all and sundry to always visit eye clinic for proper eye check up saying that the eye is delicate part of the body.

Some of the ailments included glaucoma, myepia, hypermetropia, presbyopia among others . The programme lasted for 6 hours.
