As Easter Monday is fast approaching, churches and various organisations in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital have lined up a number of activities to mark the day.
On Good Friday, the Passover Outreach – an opera organised what it called the great banquet. This year’s programme which was coordinated by Leke Joel took place at Royal Shekinah hall, along Ajasse-Ipo road, Ilorin.
Joel who is also the co-ordinator of family choir, disclosed that gate fee was free and that the public turn out  for the event was very encouraging.
He added that, “this year’s event outshined the rave review of last year. The Lord, as usual, was in the business of blessing souls and assured that many were drawn to Christ through the colourful and edifying opera”.
Also, the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Iloirn will hold an interdenominational picnic on its ground. Many churches are expected to participate in the event.
Princess Suites/Hotels, Adewole housing estate, Ilorin has also mapped out various activities to celebrate the Easter. A major place of convergence will be the Ilorin Amusement Park which will host various groups of Christians who will be there to share the joy of the season with their loved ones.
Many people are also expected to visit the new sensation centre in the state capital, Shoprite complex. It is expected that many will want to use the occasion to spoil their loved ones a little by engaging in shopping and attending the various entertainment sections within the complex.
Many churches will however, use the period to organise retreats and Easter Cantata for their members. For instance Deeper Life Bible church will hold its traditional three-day retreat at its Eyenkorin camp ground during the Easter period.
