Date: 2013-03-11

The Governor of Kwara State, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed has commended the former Governor of the State and Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District in the Senate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki on his appointment as a member of the leadership council of the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, an initiative of the United Nations foundation.

Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed in a congratulatory message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba said the appointment was an international affirmation and recognition of Senator Abubakar Bukola Saaki’s commitment to the quest for a safer environment for the people of the world.

“It is very significant that Senator Saraki is replicating the ground breaking achievements he recorded as a two-term Governor of Kwara State at the national level, especially as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and ecology, the Governor said.

Governor Ahmed noted that given Senator Saraki’s track records in public service, he had no doubt that the Senator will bring his wealth of experience to bear on the activities of Global Alliance for clean cookstoves, especially the adoption of clean cookstoves and fuels in 100 million households by the year 2020.

It could be recalled that Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki was recently appointed as a member of the Leadership  council of the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, an initiative of the United Nations.
