Kwara to Partner Saudi Arabia on Education
The Kwara State Government is to partner with the International Islamic Foundation of the World Muslim League in Saudi Arabia on the promotion of qualitative education, especially technical and special needs, in the state.
Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, who gave this indication when the General Secretary of the Foundation, Dr. Ali Magbul Al-Amri, paid him a courtesy at the Government House, Ilorin, said this was part of his administration’s effort at enhancing human capital development.
Ahmed said the proposed 2013 fiscal budget accorded the biggest vote to the education sector as an indication of the government’s commitment to the development of qualitative education in the state.
“Our decision to put much emphasis and funding on the education sector is because education is one of the most important instruments that mankind can use for growth and development,” he added.
The state government, according to the governor, would be committing about $15 million to drive the International Vocational Centre where youths would learn skills and become entrepreneurs.
Emphasizing the state’s government preparedness to collaborate with the foundation, Ahmed identified infrastructure on technical skills and special needs as major areas of assistance the state requires from the Islamic Foundation.
In his remarks, Al-Amri said foundation’s nine point agenda includes eradication of illiteracy, evolvement of syllabi that promote human capital resources and creation of access to education for the physically challenged, adding that the foundation was ready to partner with the state government in its education agenda.
