The Kwara State Fire Service responded to a fire emergency in the early hours of Sunday, 13th September 2026, at No. 2 Laduba Street, Olohunsogo, Gaa Akanbi, Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The Fire Service received the distress call and turned out at 01:57hrs, where a building comprising approximately four-bedroom flats was already fully engulfed in fire.

Due to the late notification, the fire had extensively affected the building before the arrival of the firefighters.

Our gallant men immediately commenced firefighting operations and successfully brought the situation under control, preventing further spread to adjoining properties.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the fire may have been caused by a power surge. Further investigation may be required to establish the exact cause.

The Chief Fire Officer, CFS Alabi Muhammed, urged residents to take electrical safety seriously and ensure that electrical installations and appliances are properly maintained.

He also stressed the importance of promptly contacting the Kwara State Fire Service whenever a fire incident is noticed, as early intervention remains critical to reducing damage and protecting lives and property.
