Kwara ACN chieftain, Mohammed Dele Belgore SAN, has called on the security agencies to launch an immediate manhunt for the killers of the state police commissioner, Mr Chinwike Asadu.

Yet-to-be-indentified gunmen attacked Asadu and his aides in his Enugu home state, killing the police chief and severely injuring others in the attack.

Condoling with police authorities and Asadu's relatives, Belgore said the assassination again exposed the spate of insecurity and declining respect for human lives across the country and called on the authorities to stem the tide.

"We condole with the police authorities and family and friends of the late Asadu who was until his killing yesterday night in Enugu, his home state, the Commissioner of Police in Kwara State," Belgore said in a statement by his media aide, Rafiu Ajakaye.

"We condemn the killing in the strongest terms possible and call for immediate manhunt and, on apprehension, trial of the culprits to enable the state to get at the roots of this senseless murder.

"Mr Asadu's assassination again pointed out the spate of insecurity and declining respect for human lives across the country, which, alongside corruption and poverty, are great challenges confronting the governments at all level. We urge the government to attack these menaces frontally using different approaches that not just deploy the force of arms but address their socio-economic and political roots. 

"Once again, we commiserate with Mr Asadu's family and friends and pray God to rest his soul and give his relatives the fortitude to bear the huge loss. We also wish his injured aides very quick recovery."
