Kwara United Unveil 16 New Players Ahead of 2026/27 NPFL Season

Date: 2026-07-23

Kwara United have unveiled 16 new players ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season as the club steps up preparations for a title challenge.

Speaking during the unveiling ceremony at the club's secretariat in Ilorin on Wednesday, Chairman Kumbi Titiloye said the new signings were carefully selected to strengthen the squad following the departure of players whose contracts had expired.

Titiloye disclosed that the club retained 14 players from last season's squad, noting that those who left either completed their contracts or opted to pursue opportunities elsewhere.

He expressed confidence in the quality of the new squad, saying the club is determined to compete for major domestic honours in the coming season.

"Our objective is to finish at the top of the league and win every available trophy. We want to win the NPFL title and reclaim the President Federation Cup," he said.

The chairman added that the team had learnt valuable lessons from last season's campaign and would approach every fixture with greater determination.

"We will treat every match like a World Cup final. The mistakes of last season will not be repeated," Titiloye assured.

He also appreciated the Kwara State Government and the Kwara State Sports Commission for their continued support, describing their commitment as crucial to the club's ambitions.

The new signings include goalkeepers Stanley Victor (Kada City) and Ouattara Khalifa (Alemas FC, Mali); defenders Ferinyaro Ali (Kada Warriors), Peace Dewan (Bendel Insurance), Ada Adamu (Barau FC) and Uche Daniel (Yobe Desert FC); defensive midfielder Anthony Nnamdi (Bendel Insurance); winger Emmanuel Ekpeyong (ASEAMI FC); and forwards Obed Ponkap (Barau FC), Ajibola Ayomade (Ikorodu City), Solomon Shoola (Abraysports), Benjamin Jack (Nasarawa United), Sanni Mohammed (ACAS FA, Lagos), Thomas Omokhafe (Kada Warriors), Jerry Alex (Rangers International) and Gideon Chukwu Stephen (Doma United).

The Harmony Boys have retained goalkeeper Ayeleso Suraj alongside Mohammed Alao, Alege Muhammed, Kolawole Sheriff, Adeshina Issa Gata, Jeremiah Gabriel Abutu, Okoloko Otega, Ezenabo Somtochwuku, Toyeeb Gidado, AbdulSalam AbdulSalam, Ozoh Philip, Nurudeen Badmus, Nyebe Moses and Issa Magaji as they aim to mount a strong challenge for the league title and the President Federation Cup.
