Mathew Arinze Exits Kwara United After Three Years, Attracts Interest from NPFL, African Clubs

Date: 2026-06-22

Defender Mathew Arinze has parted ways with Kwara United Football Club following the expiration of his contract, DAILY POST reports.

The towering centre-back leaves the Ilorin-based side, affectionately known as the Harmony Boys, after a three-year spell during which he played a pivotal role in the club's successful battle against relegation last season.

Following his exit, several clubs in the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) have already initiated moves to secure his signature. Reports also indicate that two foreign clubs from within the African continent have shown interest in the highly sought-after defender.

Arinze is expected to carefully study his options before making a final decision on his next destination. The focus for the defender is to choose a club that aligns with his career ambitions, capping off a highly commendable campaign with the Kwara State outfit.
