Renovation of Kwara Stadium Indoor Sports Hall Approved

Date: 2013-02-22

Kwara state government has approved the renovation and modernization of the Indoor Sports Hall of the Kwara state stadium complex, and work is expected to begin on the facility before the end of the month, and will last for just six months.

Speaking to The Heraldsports in his office on Wednesday, the Special Assistant on Sports, Alhaji Sulaiman Toyin Olokoba said that government will continue to demonstrate his determination to continue to support sporting performance and infrastructure development.

He said that with the approval of the renovation, Kwara state has began the implementation of this year’s budget. The state government budgeted N1.4 billion for sports in the state.

The total renovation of the Indoor Sports Hall, according to him, will cost N402, 899,483.94k, and will be handled by Metrol Fitting and Accessories Nigeria Limited.

Olokoba said that the project, if completed, would attract national and international competitions that would boost commercial activities in the state.

He also added that the facility would boost sports performance and competition in the state and beyond.

He added that government has assured Kwara United FC of unalloyed support ahead of the 2012/13 season which has been scheduled to commence on March 9.

Government therefore charged the team to justify the huge investment by winning a continental ticket at the end of the season.
