Four Abducted as Gunmen Raid Kakafu Community in Patigi
Suspected bandits have reportedly attacked Kakafu community in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, abducting four residents during a midnight raid.
The incident was said to have occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday when armed men stormed the agrarian settlement, firing gunshots into the air and causing panic among villagers.
Community sources disclosed that the attackers operated for several minutes without resistance before taking their victims to an unknown location.
A forest guard, who requested anonymity due to security concerns, confirmed that the remote village on the outskirts of Patigi town was targeted in the early hours of Sunday.
According to the source, one man and three females were abducted, with the women identified as a mother and her two daughters.
He stated that although the assailants fired sporadically to instill fear, no fatalities were recorded during the attack.
The source added that residents remain traumatised, with fears that the attackers may be hiding in nearby communities.
Efforts to reach the spokesperson of the Kwara State Police Command, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, were inconclusive at the time of filing this report. She said she was yet to receive official details of the incident but promised to provide updates once confirmed.
The development comes amid heightened tension in parts of Kwara State following reports of threat letters allegedly circulated to communities including Ira, Inaja and Aho in Oyun Local Government Area, as well as Dunshigogo in Kaiama LGA.
