Governor AbdulRazaq Unveils Major Infrastructure Projects for Ifelodun LGA
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has outlined a series of major infrastructure projects planned for Ifelodun Local Government Area, reaffirming his administration's commitment to improving roads, bridges, and essential amenities to drive development.
Speaking on Monday during a meeting with traditional rulers, clerics, politicians, youth leaders, and other community stakeholders, the Governor presented a comprehensive update on ongoing and proposed projects. The council chairman, Haji Femi Yusuf, led the delegation.
Projects highlighted include the Ajase-Ipo Oke Ode Sagbe Road, Alabe Oreke Road, Oro Ago Road, and the Ora township road, which is set to be reawarded. The Orisa Bridge project is also in progress, while the Akamo Bridge and rehabilitation of sections of the Share Babanla Road are on the state government's development radar.
The Governor commended community-led initiatives such as the ICT Centre in Igbaja, describing them as valuable complements to state-driven development efforts.
"Our administration is scaling up infrastructure projects to drive growth and prosperity in Ifelodun. I urge community leaders to continue engaging government constructively so we can achieve more together," AbdulRazaq said.
The Governor also touched on security, noting that the state was working closely with the Office of the National Security Adviser and security agencies to address threats in Ifelodun, Patigi, and Edu. He cautioned against exaggerated reports of insecurity, saying such narratives could affect investments.
"I assure you of our efforts to eliminate the threats. As we work together to make our communities safer, I want to advise that investments may be affected if we don't strike a balance in how we project our communities to the outside world," he said.
In their responses, stakeholders pledged support for the administration and praised its projects in the area.
"We appreciate the swift response and unwavering support of the state government… particularly the Ajase to Sagbe road project and other strategic interventions that have further boosted public confidence in your administration and in the All Progressive Congress (APC)," said Haji Femi Yusuf.
Former lawmaker Alhaji Kola Yusuf described the projects as visible proof of government's commitment. "We are very grateful to Your Excellency for your visible efforts. We can see it, and we thank you," he said.
Elder Oyin Zubair urged further support for residents affected by recent security incidents while expressing confidence that the government's current deployment of security forces would restore peace to the area.
