KWIRS Tax Club Quiz 2025 Names 12 Semi-Finalist Schools
The Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS), in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, has completed the preliminary stages of the 2025 Tax Club Quiz Competition, a programme aimed at fostering tax awareness among secondary school students.
Funmilola Oguntunbi, Head of the Corporate Affairs Department at KWIRS, announced that the winning schools will compete for a grand prize of N2.5 million at the grand finale.
Oguntunbi explained that the preliminary rounds, which began on 23 June 2025, followed a mock test organised by KWIRS to help students familiarize themselves with the online Computer-Based Test (CBT) format, conducted from their respective schools.
A total of 99 schools across Kwara State registered for the competition, with 88 participating in the online CBT preliminary stage, and 40 advancing to the second round after the initial phase.
Following two competitive rounds, 12 schools qualified for the semi-final stage, including Osi Central Secondary School, Ansar Ud Deen College, Government Secondary School (Share), and Ansarul Islam Grammar School (Ijomu Oro) from Kwara South; Deeper Life High School, Saint Anthony's Secondary School, Ebenezer High School, and Roemichs International School from Kwara Central; and Shepherd School, Government Secondary School (Ilesha Baruba), Government Secondary School (Lafiagi), and Unique College (Kaiama) from Kwara North.
Oguntunbi listed the qualified schools to include Osi Central Secondary School, Osi, Ansar Ud Deen College, Offa, Government Secondary School, Share, and Ansarul Islam Grammar School, Ijomu Oro from Kwara South; Deeper Life High School, Ilorin, Saint Anthony's Secondary School, Ilorin, Ebenezer High School, Ilorin and Roemichs International School, Ilorin from Kwara Central; Shepherd School, Lafiagi, Government Secondary School Ilesha Baruba, Government Secondary School, Lafiagi, and Unique College, Kaiama from Kwara North.
Oguntunbi, on behalf of the executive chairman of KWIRS, Shade Omoniyi commended the execution of the online preliminary stages, emphasising that the virtual format introduced in recent editions continues to reflect the service's commitment to innovation and digital transformation.
"Our transition to a virtual model has laid the foundation for the successful conduct of this year's preliminary rounds. It has made participation easier and more inclusive," she added.
"The semi-final stage is scheduled to hold virtually on October 6, 2025, after which six schools will proceed to the grand finale, which will hold physically in Ilorin on November 6, 2025. The winning schools will compete for the grand prize of N2.5 million, " she said.
