Kwara Government Closed GHS and GDSS Adeta Over Student Unrest Amid Exam Season Safety Measures
The Kwara State Government has ordered the immediate closure of Government High School and Government Day Secondary School, Adeta, in Ilorin, following repeated incidents of student unrest, including violent clashes, disruptions to classes, and vandalism of school property.
Confirming the decision on Wednesday, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, stated that the closure was necessary to restore order and ensure safety.
He added that only students sitting for the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSSCE) and their teachers will be permitted on campus during the exam period.
Dr. Olohungbebe directed that all SSSCE candidates must wear school identification cards to access the premises. He also warned parents and guardians to keep students at home, as security personnel will apprehend anyone violating the directive.
The government reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline and safety across all public schools in the state.
