Senator Mustapha's Subsidised Tractor Scheme Aims to Revolutionise Farming in Kwara Central
Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing the Kwara Central Senatorial District, has launched a subsidised tractorisation initiative to promote mechanised farming and boost agricultural productivity in Kwara State.
The programme, part of the senator's rural development and food security agenda, provides farmers in the district with tractors and mechanised farming equipment at significantly reduced rates.
As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture Production Services and Rural Development, Senator Mustapha flagged off the distribution of tractors to the four local government areas within Kwara Central.
The initiative followed an earlier distribution of tractors to farmer groups and cooperative societies across the state, underscoring his commitment to grassroots agricultural empowerment.
According to the senator's media aide, Nasif Sholagberu, the initiative, tagged Turaki Sagbedoba, is tailored to support smallholder farmers and drive food production in rural communities.
"This distribution reflects the senator's commitment to leveraging his legislative role to deliver tangible agricultural benefits directly to the people.
"It also aligns seamlessly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agricultural Development Programme," Sholagberu said.
Stakeholders have welcomed the initiative, noting that the increased availability of tractors will significantly reduce the burden on local farmers and accelerate the adoption of mechanised farming practices in the state.
