Kwara Farmers Hail Government for Boosting Agriculture and Rural Development
A group of rural farmers in Kwara State, represented by the Millennium United Rural Farmers Foundation (MURF), has praised the state government's initiatives aimed at revitalising agriculture and promoting rural development.
In a statement issued by their National President, Aremu Shuaib Alawaye, the farmers expressed appreciation for the government's efforts in providing infrastructure and creating an enabling environment for rural farmers and communities. These measures, they noted, have significantly contributed to fostering sustainable economic growth and development across the state.
The group, which lauded the government's efforts in the distribution of agricultural inputs in 2024 through NAGS-AP, also identified other initiatives provided to farmers in clusters at Kaiama, Baruten, Moro, Asa, Edu, Patigi, and Ifelodun local government areas, etc.
“We also commend the government for supporting us with tractors, extension services and facilitation of private investments to Kwara state”, Alawaye said, adding that two investors, AMO BYNG and GBEMTAN, were attracted for outgrowing of soybeans in Kwara state to boost rural development and food security.
However, while commending the government for its 2024 investments and achievements in agricultural and rural development, the group urged the government to double its investments in 2025 to further accelerate agricultural and rural development for a sustainable economic growth and development.
