Senator Saraki Calls for Peace Between Offa and Erin-Ile

Date: 2013-01-31

Responding to the fresh violence between the people of Offa and Erin-Ile in Offa and Oyun Local Government Areas of Kwara state, the former Governor of Kwara state, Senator Abubarkar Bukola Saraki has appealed for total restoration of peace in that area of the state.

Speaking through his media office, Senator Bukola Saraki stated he was shocked and unhappy when he heard of the fresh violence between Offa and Erin-Ile and if there's a time to put a lasting resolution to this age long conflict and never make it rise again, It is NOW!

"We are the state of harmony, and our communities should maintain harmony at all time and in all situations; teach our children and youths to live in harmony and not in violence, to see eachothers as brothers, irrespective of the community or local government, Kwara is one. Peace is paramount to any form of development but violence will only regress us as a people. The people of Offa and Erin-Ile should embrace peace and harmony even as the rest of the state does, while we embrace peaceful ways of resolving the conflict" The distinguished Senator said.

Senator Saraki also called on the traditional rulers of the two communities (Olofa of Offa and Elerin of Erin-Ile ) to appeal for calm and call their people to order in the interest of peace.

Senator Bukola Saraki also commended the state government for quick and effective intervention as it works to profer lasting solution to the age long conflict between the two communities at the shortest delay possible.

Signed,
Akintoba Fatigun
