Kwara Representatives and Senators in National Assembly, Visits Minister of Works to Draw Attention to Federal Roads in Kwara
In his opening remarks, Senator Saraki said this is the first time the entire members of National Assembly from kwara state would undertake such courtesy visit to any federal Ministry. At the meeting, Senator Saraki emphasised that all Federal roads across the state are in serious diliapidated conditions and has made lives unbearable to people plying the routes, especially kwarans, therfore, there is need for urgent attention. He equally applauded the Federal government for appropriating funds to most of the projects in 2013 budget. He however implored the Minister to ensure full and adequate implementation of the projects.
On a final note, Senator Saraki pledged the commitment of kwara state Government to collaborate with the Federal Government where necessary to ensure the prompt award and completion of these road projects.
In his response, the Honourable Minister appreciated the courtesy call on him and described the visit as remarkable. The Minister said Mr President has received the State Government letter and has forwarded same to his Ministry for immediate action. He said the letter of approval for the commencement of work on Kaiama-Kishi road which the state intends to embark upon would soon be ready.
The Minister further stated that for Jebba-ilorin axis that the BPP are almost finalising work on it. He promised that work will commence in earnest on ilorin-Omu-Aran- Egbe road while that of Offa-Erin-Osun state Boundary will done in synergy with the state Government. The Minister assured Senator Saraki and his delegation that the Ministry has concluded plans and processes for award of contract are in advanced stage.
Finally, the Minister espressed his desire and commitments towards the commencement of all the road projects due to their socio- economic advantages to the Southern and Northern part of the country.
