Kwara Police Recover Stolen Vehicle from Lagos, Arrest Two Suspects
The Kwara State Police Command has recovered a Toyota Camry with registration number APP 443 CX, reportedly stolen from Lagos State, in Ilorin, the state capital.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed that two suspects have been arrested in connection with the stolen car. Investigations are ongoing to uncover further details about the incident.
The PPRO, who said that operatives of the command acted on intelligence that was received from a dealer in the popular motor spare parts market in Ipata-Oloje, Ilorin, added that detectives later apprehended the two suspects on Friday, November 22, 2024, at about 6:00 p.m
The police spokesperson, who identified the suspects as Ganiyu Lawal (Male, 43 years old) of Babasoja, Gambari, Ilorin, and Ademola Waheed (Male, 45 years old) of Sango Road, Ilorin, said that the suspects were intercepted with the vehicle.
The statement read, “During a thorough search of the car, a GSM number linked to the owner, Mr Ajibade Abel of Badagry Road, Lagos state, was found. Upon contact, Mr Abel confirmed that the vehicle had been stolen from a parking lot in Lagos state and that the case had been reported at Area 'C' Police Command, Surulere, Lagos state.
“The suspects admitted purchasing the vehicle for a suspiciously low price of ?400,000 and intended to resell it in Ilorin for ?1,000,000.”
The police said that further investigations are underway to identify other accomplices in order to unravel the full extent of their criminal activities.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya commends the public for their vigilance and urges continued cooperation in providing timely intelligence to ensure a safer Kwara State,” the statement added.
