Old Students to Launch Alumni Association, Partner with Kwara Govt on School Revival
The Nation reports that alumni of Oyelagbanwo Grammar School, located in Ilala, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, are set to collaborate with the state government to revitalise the school's aging infrastructure, which has been in need of repair for over 50 years.
Chairman of the alumni group, Mr. Nasiru Moronfola, announced that the formal launch of the Oyelagbanwo Grammar School Alumni Association is scheduled for Saturday.
Moronfola, a pharmacist, shared that alongside supporting infrastructure, the alumni have plans to recruit additional teachers to strengthen the institution's staff, providing much-needed support for government efforts.
“We have already met with the Education and Human Capital Development commissioner on the issue.
“We are not happy with the parlous state of infrastructure in the school. We want to be interested in how the students will fare in NECO and WAEC examinations.
“Any teacher the old students recruit will be accommodated. This will serve as a form of motivation for the teacher.
“However, we urge the state government to resuscitate the dilapidated infrastructure in the school,” he said.
The chairman added that the ex-students would use their contacts to invite private initiatives, to bring back the old glory of the school that groomed and nurtured them.
