EFCC Arrested Over 50 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Offa

Date: 2024-10-31

Royal News reports that no fewer than 55 suspected internet fraudsters were apprehended on Wednesday by the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) across various locations in Offa, Offa Local Government Area, Kwara State.

This recent arrest follows a similar operation conducted between 3rd and 6th September 2024, during which the EFCC detained approximately 100 individuals in Ilorin, the state capital, on suspicion of involvement in internet fraud activities.

The latest arrests, involving mostly young men of school age, occurred early Wednesday morning after credible intelligence revealed the increasing activities of fraudsters preying on innocent citizens in the area.

Items recovered from the suspects include nine luxury cars, two motorcycles, laptops, smartphones, and various charms, all suspected to be associated with illicit activity.

The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the ongoing investigations.
