Veterinary Expert Advises Nigerian Students to Prioritise Passion Over Discipline
A Malaysian national and veterinary expert, Dr. Pusa Ramloo, has urged Nigerian students, regardless of their field of study, to focus on their passion when planning their future careers.
Dr. Ramloo made this recommendation during her keynote address at the induction ceremony for 30 new veterinary doctors from the University of Ilorin, who are now officially entering the veterinary medicine profession.
The programme was themed “Thriving in Turbulent Times: Strategies for Veterinary Enterprises to Navigate Economic Challenges and Ensure Sustainable Growth”.
Daily Trust reports that a son of an aluminium fabricator, Akinwumi Usman, emerged as the overall best graduating student.
According to Dr Ramloo who is the Director, House of Pluto, Lagos, it is not too late for graduates who are passionate about other fields to move on.
“Follow your passion always and do what you are passionate about. If you have graduated as a veterinarian and you are not passionate about it, it's not too late, please move on.
“One of the students who came to do his internship with us discussed with me that he has a passion for data analysis and I encouraged him. Today, he is working for a top British firm as a data analyst. We have many other instances like that,” she said.
She charged the young veterinarians to embrace technology but with caution.
