Summit University, Offa Disassociates from Criminal Activities of Former Student
According to news gathered by Nigerian Tribune, Summit University, Offa, Kwara State, has disassociated itself from the criminal activities of a former student, whose arrest was recently announced by the Kwara State Police Command.
In an official statement by the Public Relations Officer of the university, Atoyebi Bashir Olagunju, he said that the individual had been expelled long before the alleged crime took place and has no current affiliation with the institution.
The statement also mentioned that the former student was dismissed after being found guilty of theft, a serious violation of both the university's rules and the matriculation oath.
“The dismissal was followed by the immediate removal of the student's belongings from the university hostel by his parents, marking the end of his association with Summit University.
“The management of the Summit University emphasised that it was not aware of any criminal activities connected to the individual prior to his expulsion.
“The university also strongly denied any involvement in or endorsement of any event, including night parties, that could be linked to the criminal case under investigation”.
The statement said since its establishment, Summit University has prided itself on upholding high standards of moral discipline, academic excellence, and the cultivation of entrepreneurial skills.
The university reaffirmed its commitment to these values and assured the public that it remains a bastion of integrity and sound education.
Summit University commended the Kwara State Police Command for its swift and professional action in apprehending the suspects involved in the case.
The university pledged its full support for a thorough and impartial investigation.
The institution also extended its deepest sympathy to the family of the deceased, offering prayers for strength and comfort during this tragic time.
