Kwara Police Arrest Suspected Ritualist for Attempted Murder of 10-Year-Old Boy
According to a news report from Channels TV News, police authorities in Kwara State have apprehended a suspected ritualist in connection with the attempted murder of a 10-year-old boy.
The spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, stated that the arrest followed a distress call about the incident, which occurred in the Ahab, Oke-Foma area of Ilorin, the state capital.
“It was reported that a 10-year-old boy, Akeem Nurudeen, resident of Abab area Abayawo, Ilorin, was hawking pepper when he was lured into a room by a suspect identified as Isiaka Adeniyi, aged 46, from Ifedapo Community, Oke-Foma area, Ilorin,” the police said in a statement.
“The suspect allegedly lured the victim under the pretext of purchasing pepper but instead covered the victim's face with a cloth and attempted to slaughter him with a knife.”
But the action of the vigilant community members ensured that the suspect “was apprehended and brought to the station. A preliminary investigation is currently underway, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough and discreet investigation.”
The police commended the community for their proactiveness in the apprehension of the suspect.
