Kwara Falcons to Lead West Africa's Elite Teams in Inaugural Basketball Classics

Date: 2024-06-05

Kwara Falcons of Ilorin will lead West Africa’s top teams in the region’s maiden basketball classics, commencing today at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

According to a news report from The Guardian, following rigorous first and second phases in Lome, Togo and Cotonou, Benin Republic, the Final Four will take place from today until June 7. The competing teams include Gidi Giants of Nigeria, ASPAC of Benin Republic, Kwara Falcons of Ilorin, Nigeria, and Swallows of Togo.

The first semifinal game will feature ASPAC against Kwara Falcons at 3:00 pm, followed by Gidi Giants versus Swallows at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium. The third-place and final games are scheduled for Friday.

WABC President Olumide Oyedeji promised that the Final Four will be a spectacle, with plans in place to make it a showpiece event.

“We’re working round the clock to make the event a delight for basketball followers across the world. Of the six teams that kick-started the WABC, only GRA Braves of Ghana and Elan Cotton of Benin Republic will be absent in Lagos.”
