NURTW Clash: Kwara Police Vow to Deal with Trouble Makers
The Kwara State Police Command yesterday said its quick intervention suppressed the fracas between two transport groups in Offa and Erinle in Offa and Oyun Local Government Areas of Kwara state.
The command has therefore vowed to apprehend and prosecute anybody found causing problems in the two neighbouring communities.
The police’s remarks came against the backdrop of Saturday’s clash between commercial transport workers precipitated by the action of one of the drivers plying Offa/Erinle routes who reportedly crushed an Offa indigene and refused to stop.
Speaking with Daily Trust yesterday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Olufemi Fabode said the command had not made any arrest in connection with the clash.
According to him, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Chinwike Asadu had directed the Area Commander to relocate to the communities and ensure there is absolute peace in the area.
"As I am talking to you, normalcy has returned to the area and we want to advise the people to be law-abiding and go about their businesses", the police spokesman added.
