Govt Auctions Kwara Hotel's Property

Date: 2023-12-04

The Kwara State Government has debunked the rumour that it has sold the four-star Kwara Hotel amid auctioning of its property.

The hotel had been a subject of controversy between the opposition and the government.

The auction which was done at the weekend on the premises of the hotel saw refrigerators allegedly sold for N20,000 and king-size beds with mattresses sold for around N40,000 each.

Other items sold included fans, air conditioners, generating sets and rugs.

Eight companies, it was gathered, initially bid for the auctioning and four were eventually selected.

Kwara State Government in October last year directed the shutdown of the ailing hotel pending its rehabilitation and repositioning.

Reacting to the accusation at the weekend, the Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology, Hon Damilola Yusuf, said, “The edifice is a legacy and public property that will not be sold for whatever reason.”
