400 youths set to benefit from tech summit by Kwara lawmaker
Member representing Ekiti/Isin/ Irepodun/Oke-Ero federal constituency of Kwara state, Tunji Olawuyi has announced a plan to launch a tech summit among 300 youths in his constituency and 100 youths outside his constituency.
Speaking with journalists in Omu-Aran at the weekend, the special assistant to the lawmaker on Information and Communication Technology, Taye Maxwell, said that the beneficiaries from outside the federal constituency would be drawn from Ifelodun, Offa and Oyun local government areas of the state.
He also said that the gesture by the legislator, who is the chairman, House Committee on Humanitarian Affairs, IDPs, Migrants and Refugees, would enable the beneficiaries to gain insights from experienced tech professionals who will educate, mentor, and guide them.
Maxwell also said that the federal lawmaker wanted to prepare a digital era for the youth to enable them to understand and utilise the latest digital tools and platforms.
Also speaking, the SSA Media and Strategic Communications to the lawmaker, Olayinka Owolewa, said that the Tech Summit is a preparatory event ahead of the Ajuloopin Digital Empowerment Program (ADEP 2024).
He said that the attendees would receive valuable insights that would set the stage for a successful digital community and contribute to the shaping of ADEP 2024 by providing data on specific tech skills of interest with a focus on localising technology solutions.
He said that registration had since opened on Saturday, November 18 for one week.
The summit, with a theme: TechFrontiers: Igniting innovation in Kwara South, is expected to take place on Friday, December 1 at the Omu-Aran city complex, beginning at 9am.
