Unuanel Dismisses Resignation Report
Kwara United technical adviser, Samson Unuanel has said there is no truth in the report that he threatened to resign his appointment with the Afonja Warriors.
Unconfirmed report had it that the former Ocean Boys' manager had heated argument on Tuesday with the management over some financial matters leading to the threat to walk away from the side.
Unuanel said he made demands to the management to grant the players four-day off to observe the Yuletide celebration as well as to pay the December salary which the board acceded to.
"I can't abandon the team at this point in time. (Having) brouhaha with management is normal in any team.
"What I demanded was three, four days off for the players to mark the Christmas celebration and payment of their December salary.
"Both requests were graciously granted as the players were paid December salary on Friday and they commenced their Christmas holidays on Saturday to resume on Wednesday.
"I never had any unpleasant issue with the management, any other thing I discussed with the management is normal.
"Kwara United have their own share of financial matters, I think the management is forthright in handling the issue amicably. So I never threatened to resign, abscond or abandon the team for whatever reason," he said to supersport.com.
The former Super Falcons' assistant coach said his side are battle ready for the start of the 2012/2013 NPL season next month.
"Everything is in perfect order for the league challenge. I think we're ready for the season and won't allow ourselves to be distracted from our target of winning silverwares for the side," said the birthday boy, who will be a year older on Wednesday, December 26.
