Late KWASU VC, Professor Muhammed Akanbi buried in Ilorin

Late Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, Malete, KWASU, Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi, SAN, was buried in Ilorin on Monday.

He was buried at his father's residence, No 6, Agba Dam Street, off Ahmadu Bello Way, GRA, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, at about 4:30 p.m.

The Muslim janazat prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Mohammed Bashir, attended by a tumultuous crowd of family members, associates, lawyers, judges and top government officials.

Traffic was held up on the ever-busy Ahmadu Bello Way until the conclusion of the burial.

Also in attendance were Governor Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Saaba Jibril, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Egbewole, staff of the University of Ilorin and Kwara State University.

The late VC, Professor of Law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, died on Sunday night in a Lagos hospital after a brief illness at 51.

He is survived by his wife and children.
