KWARA DEPUTY GOVERNOR HAILS CAREGIVERS ON IMMUNIZATION CAMPAIGNS FOR CHILDREN
•Calls for converted efforts to break further transmission
Kwara State Deputy Governor and Chairman State Immunization Task Force, Mr Kayode Alabi today commended the Kwara State Primary Healthcare Development Agency and the Kwara State Ministry of Health for ensuring a healthy populace in the state.
Mr Alabi gave the commendation at the state taskforce meeting on immunization held at the conference room of the office of the Deputy Governor.
Reacting to the strain of the polio virus discovered in Kaiama Local Government of the state, Mr Alabi called for concerted efforts to break the transmission of the virus.
He reiterated the premium that leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq places of the quality of healthcare given to and received by all kwarans.
Mr Alabi entreated mothers and caregivers to avail their children and wards the opportunity for immunization at all times.
He again expressed the appreciation of the State to the development partners in the health sector, including the World Health Organization (WHO) UNICEF, among other partners.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary Kwara State Primary Health care Development Agency Doctor Nusirat Elelu stated that the
outbreak of polio virus in Kiama Local Government Area has necessitated two rounds of polio campaign in January and February.
She further noted that in July, another outbreak response was initiated because of the circulating strain of the virus which waa as a result of the movement of people from one place to another.
She noted with delight that presently, there is no new case of polio, however, there will be another outbreak response in November and December.
Commissioner for health Doctor Raji Razaq who was represented by the permanent secretary, Dr Ayinla Abubakar affirmed that the ministry accords due diligence to the delivery of quality Heathcare for kwarans and will continue to ensure that the agencies are up and doing in their respective tasks World health organization and other development partners also emphasized their continuous support to the state in response and surveillance against diseases.
