Kwara Partners Islamic Bank On N1bn English-Arabic School
The Kwara State Government has commenced the construction of a bilingual secondary school to teach students English and Arabic languages.
The project, which is cited in the Share community of Ifelodun LGA, is estimated to cost about N1bn.
The government, through the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and the Kwara State House of Assembly, through the Member representing Share/Oke-Ode Constituency, Owolabi Rasaq, partnered to birth the project.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony in Share, the state’s Chairman of SUBEB, Prof Raheem Adaramaja, said that the school, with boarding facilities, vocational and ICT centres, hospitals, among others, was expected to be completed within 12 months.
He appreciated the commitment of IDB and officials of government that made positive inputs towards the realisation of the project.
The chairman urged the host community to be watchful and protect the project, among other public facilities in their domain.
Owolabi, on his part, said it took at least six months to secure the school’s contract for the state.
While acknowledging the role of the state government through SUBEB for the project, the lawmaker thanked Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his support.
He urged the contractor to engage the community in their operations and pledged support to ensure that the project was delivered according to specifications.
In his remarks, the Oba of Share, Haruna Suleiman, appreciated the governor for choosing Share town as the benefiting community.
