2023: Kwara Senator Urges Youth To Demand For Good Governance
The Senator representing Kwara Central at the National Assembly, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe has called on Nigerian youths to take charge of their future by demanding good governance from elected officials.
Senator Oloriegbe gave the charge at the 2022 Zonal Intervention and Capital Projects facilitated by him where about 625 people benefited from a total of 450 million naira worth empowerment equipment and agricultural produce.
The Kwara Central Senator said the youths are the backbone of a sane society as they play a very active role in the process of social transformation of a nation, which he said is a reason to empower them to be self-sufficient.
He said the empowerment which strategically captured three segments of the society, agriculture, vocational skills and information technology is to ensure the young people of Kwara Central are empowered for the development of the state.
According to him, ”We know that the youthful population of our country is an asset which we have now fully harnessed, and as such, this empowerment is in five categories, to cater for all segments of the society and we will do more.
“Many people always said what am I still looking for having lost the primaries, but I told them losing the primaries is not the end of my tenure at the National Assembly.
I still have 8 months to go, and I am ready to fulfil all my promises to the people till the last day of my tenure which is June 11, 2023.
“So the people of Kwara Central should prepare because there will still be another empowerment before the end of this year,” he said.
The highlight of the occasion was the launch of a political movement, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe (DIYO) for Good governance.
He said the group intends to advocate for good governance and promotion of the ideals of the Otoge mantra on which he was elected about four years ago.
“We intend to mobilise people for good governance at all levels of government. One of the purposes is also in line with my last statement of mobilising for the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu”, he said.
He also said he does not have any intention of defecting from the All Progressive Congress as he also advised his supporters to continue to support the party and individuals within the party with good character.
Some of the items given outs were cars, tricycles, motorbikes, artisan tools, laptops, and farm implements amongst others.
