2023: APC Will Win With Landslide In Kwara - Chairman
In spite of the defection of the loyalists of the minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Prince Sunday Fagbemi yesterday said the party would win the 2023 elections in the state with a landslide.
Fagbemi said the ruling APC would only need to beat its own record by securing a higher margin of votes when compared with the outcome of the 2019 general election.
The APC chairman who spoke during an interfaith prayer organized by the Kwara South's leadership of the party in Ajase- Ipo, noted that the outstanding performance of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's administration has positioned the party as Kwarans' favorite.
He boasted that the party will not only win all the parliament seats at the state and the federal levels but will also record a resounding victory in the gubernatorial election.
He, however, stressed the need for the display of good sportsmanship by party members nursing political ambitions ahead of the 2023 general election, warning them against damaging the reputation of other aspirants in order not to jeopardize the chances of the party in the long run.
Earlier, the APC's Kwara South senatorial chairman, Hon Olayemi Olabanji, had lamented that rural-urban migration has badly affected the zone and emphasized the need for the people of the area to increase their voting strength.
The state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, was represented by his special adviser on political affairs, Mal. Abdullateef Alakawa urged the people of Kwara South to support APC in the next general election as they did in 2019.
AbdulRazaq asserted that the 'otoge administration' has scored very high when it comes to achievements, disclosing that his administration has so far executed 268 projects in Kwara South.
