Oloriegbe chairs IEDPU 56th annual conference

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Health, Dr. Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, will on Saturday preside over the opening ceremony of the 56th edition of the annual national conference of the Ilorin Emirate main socio-cultural organisation, Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU).

A statement signed by the Union's National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Imam, on behalf of the National President of the Union, Alhaji Aliyu Otta Uthman,fsi, said that the opening ceremony of the conference, which holds under the auspices of the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Emirs and Obas, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, is slated for Saturday, December 25, 2021 at the Forecourt of the Emir's Palace, Ilorin, beginning at 10am.

The event, according to Alhaji Uthman, would have Honourable Justice Sefiya T. Abdulkadir of the High Court of Justice, Ilorin, as the Chairwoman; while the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, would be the Distinguished Guest of Honour.

Alhaji Uthman added that the Chief Launcher at the event would be Engr. Dr. Abubakar Isa, Chairman/Chief Executive, Spectrum Group, Abuja; while the National Missioner of the Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria, Shaykh Abdulmumini Hanafi Ayara; would be the Guest Speaker.

The IEDPU President explained that the opening ceremony of the conference, which would attract dignitaries from all walks of life and delegates from over 120 branches of the Union across the country and beyond, would feature fundraising for the completion of the ongoing Ilorin Emirate Skills Acquisition Hub, which official foundation laying ceremony was performed by the Governor of Kwara State last week, and the launching of the Union's 2022 Calendar.

The retired intelligence technocrat added that the highlight of the conference, which would hold at Oke-Oyi, the headquarters of Ilorin East Local Government Area on Sunday, December 26,2021, would the elections of a new set of executives who would run the affairs of the Union for the next two years.

Alhaji Uthman, while inviting all sons and daughters as well as friends of Ilorin Emirate to grace the opening ceremony promptly, explained that the conference would be conducted in absolute compliance with COVID-19 regulations as stipulated by the health authorities.
