Kwara sanctions nine principals over illegal levies' collection

Date: 2021-11-05

The Kwara State Government has sanctioned nine secondary school principals over the collection of illegal charges and items not approved for students in public schools.

The State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs Sa'adatu Modibbo-Kawu, disclosed this during an emergency meeting held at the Ministry's headquarter recently with some principals who were fingered in the alleged illegal collection of fees. The Commissioner, in a statement, said some parents had reported to the Ministry that some principals were charging above the approved PTA levies and also collecting items that were not approved during the education stakeholders' meeting.

Modibbo-Kawu said some principals were in the habit of collecting exhorbitant levies not approved by the government from the students.

She said the present administration would not fold its arms and allow saboteurs to blackmail or sabotage the result-oriented education reforms of Governor AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq's led administration in the state.
