Channel Your Energy Into Positive Things, Kwara Govt. Urges Youths

Date: 2021-09-09

Kwara government has urged youths to channel their energy, emotions and creativity into positive things.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth Development, Mr Iyabo Banire, stated this on Wednesday in Ilorin at the inaugural meeting of Nigeria Youth Workers' Association (NYWA), Kwara chapter.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that NYWA focuses on youth development through the support of youth-workers who give them the needed confidence and resources to pursue their interests and goals.

According to Banire, the significance of the association cannot be over-emphasised, as it helps youths to harness their ideals and passions to fight for their rights and opportunities.

She urged the association to further focus on initiatives aimed at supporting youths, as this would not only promote the association and enhance youth development in all areas, but also put the society at rest.

Earlier in his welcome address, acting Director of Youth Development, Mr Akeem Abdulsalam, called on every member of the society to take youth development as priority, adding that any nation that failed to develop its youth might have itself to blame.

In his speech, National Protem President of the association, Ben Duntoye, stated that the need for the development of the association arose from the imperative for proper mentoring of young ones by youth-workers.

Duntoye noted that young people needed adults' guidance and mentoring to succeed.

He thanked the Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his thoughtfulness in creating the ministry of youth development as well as appointing several special assistants for the purpose of engaging the youth. (NAN)
