Two children drown in Ilorin river

Two school students were on Wednesday morning reported drowned inside Aluko River in the Ilorin metropolis.

Tribune Online gathered that the children from the Adangba compound in the state capital were also students of Dahir ul Islamic College.

drowned inside Aluko river early this morning. The two children, both from Adangba compound. An eyewitness account had it that four students had gone to the river to ease themselves. "When three of them saw that one of them was drowning, one of the three who made attempt to rescue the drowning one also got drowned.

"Passersby raised alarm for rescue, and some scavengers around were able to rescue one of the two, while the second was evacuated when the men of the state Fire Service arrived the scene.

"However, the two children, who were rushed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH), were both confirmed dead".

The State Fire Service was yet to confirm the incident despite efforts made.
