Date: 2012-11-03

NAKSS' Open Letter to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed

His Excellency,
Alh. Abdulfatah Ahmed,
The Executive Governor of Kwara State,
Government House, ilorin.

Sir,

OPEN APPEAL FOR URGENT RELEASE OF BURSARY

Accept the Aluta greetings from the secretariat of the apex umbrella body for the over 1.2 million Kwara state students schooling home and diaspora (Nakss National Headquaters).

Foremost, we are obliged to commend the tremendous effort of your Excellency towards standardizing and upliftment of our Harmonious State, most especially in the Educational Sector.

Sir, the above caption Refers:

Owing to the stakeholders meeting convened by your Excellency held on 19th september 2012 that led to further dialogue, consultation, consolidation among the entire kwara state students across all institutions hereby agreed as follows.

  • That kwara state government should reinstate the payment of scholarship to the best among the students to encourage their academics performance without swapping Bursary for Scholarship as applicable in other States of th Nation.
  • Bursary remains the only welfare package enjoyed by any common kwarans in higher institutions of learning that stands as incentives from our Government.
  • That the purported 150million approved in the 2012 appropriated budget should be released for disbursement with any formular that will let it cater for all.

OUR POSITION:

Your Excellency, you will recall that during the meeting held with you on 19th september 2012 (A month ago) you promised after a thorough exchange of ideas on this issue to approve whatever the resolution of the meeting of the stakeholders in the Educational sector (Ministry of Education and human capital development, Ministry of tertiary Education,Scholarship Board, SA's,P. T. A, students leader of NAKSS NHQ and JCC NANS) which we strongly believe that the affirmative conclusion on BURSARY must have gotten to your highly respected Office as a result of our consecutive meetings with Scholarship Board on 21st and 24th of september and the larger house on 27th of the same month.

At this delicate point in time, we want to firmly appeal for the release of the 2012 Bursary of Kwara State Students. Sir, we are highly depressed that all our yearnings and aspiration over this scheme has been given a fluctuating attention over the time.

YOUR EXCELLENCY, WITH ALL FORMIDABLE FORCES OF THE UNINTIMIDATED KWARA STATE STUDENTS, WE WANT TO GALLANTLY INFORM YOU THAT OUR SECRETARIAT CAN NO LONGER WITHSTAND ANY FURTHER SUSPENSE ON THIS MATTER.

We hereby pronounce our consensus decision of two weeks(2) ULTIMATUM to meet up with this our final demand for the disbursement of our Bursary with effect from the date this letter is served on your Excellency.

It is necessary we articulate and re-affirm that our leadership has been working in a keen cordial relationship with your administration,as a vibrant way to pay our own quota for the progress and development of our dear state.

LONG LIVE KWARA STATE STUDENTS!
LONG LIVE KWARA STATE!!
LONG LIVE NIGERIA!!!

Signed.
