Indigenes of Ilorin Emirate have been assured that the construction and completion of the proposed IEDPU ICT/Skills Acquisition Hub shall be given utmost priority.

The National President of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union, Alhaji Aliyu Otta Uthman, fsi,gave the assurance on Saturday (March 27,2021) while inaugurating the Project Advisory Committee at the Union's National Secretariat, Geri Alimi area,Ilorin.

Alhaji Uthman explained that the project was very important to the survival and greatness of Ilorin because of its envisaged capacity to reduce joblessness among the increasing younger elements of the community who, after graduation from various institutions of higher learning,find themselves jobless.

The IEDPU President, while calling for more donations and supports from indigenes and friends of Ilorin Emirate, assured that every effort shall be made to ensure that the project is completed and made use of within the record time.

Alhaji Uthman who commended the Executive Governor of Kwara State ,Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq,for leading by example with huge donations to the project made by him and on behalf of his associates and others who had contributed to the Fund ,explained that to underscore the importance of the project each member of the Union's National Executive Council has contributed his widow's mite to the project.

He added that to raise more funds for the laudable project each of the over 100 branches of the Union across and beyond the shores of Nigeria and the four zonal segments of the Union are also expected to send in their donations.

The community leader,therefore, called on well to do indigenes and others,who are yet to donate towards the realisation of the project,to forward their donations in cash or materials as he assured that every Kobo and item donated shall be judiciously expended,saying that no amount is too much to be spent on the progress of one's ancestral community.

He also hinted that the foundation laying ceremony of the project would soon be performed by the His Excellency,the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and His Royal Highness, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Emirs and OVAs,Alhaji(Dr)Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR.

Members of the Committee inaugurated include the IEDPU National President,Alhaji Aliyu O. Uthman,who will serve as the Chairman while Alhaji Lanre Akewusola is the Committee's Secretary. Others on the Committee are Alhaji Abdulmumini Abdulmalik, Deputy Chairman; as well as Prof. Sulyman A.Kuranga,a former Chief Medical Director of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital;Alhaji Masud Elelu,the immediate past Rector of the Kwara State Polytechnic,Ilorin; Prof.O Y.Abdulhamid, the Director,Centre for Ilorin Studies,University of Ilorin;Alhaji Adam Hanafi Alabere,the IEDPU's National Treasurer; Alhaji Kazeem Elewure,the Chairman,IEDPU Okaka Branch and Barrister AbdulRauf Amao Amode,a retired top technocrat,among others.

The Committee,which inauguration was witnessed by a former National President of the Union, Ambassador Sheikh Usman AbdulAzeez,fwc and his successor, Alhaji Yahaya O.Ahmed as well as several members of the Union's National Executive Council, has since started its work.
