Kwara Govt. Directs LGs to Pay Staff, Releases Funds
The Kwara State Government has advised all local government councils in the state to pay all outstanding salaries and overheads, including that of
October, to all local government workers with immediate effect i.e. before Salah. This is contained in a statement which was signed by the Secretary to the Kwara State Government, Alhaji Sola Isiaka Gold.
The Kwara State government in the statement also "directed the immediate release of N555, 200, 000 to the accounts of the local government councils from their excess crude account to enable them settle all outstanding salary arrears and other overhead costs"
The state government said that on no account should any worker in any local government council be retrenched.
The state governemt stated “that henceforth no local government should accumulate salary arrears under any guise. That government will continue to ensure that all local government councils retain the capacity to meet their obligations including the prompt payment of staff salaries”
