A group, the Love Crusade Vanguard, has said it has engaged youths, particularly corps members, in farming as part of its objective of empowering young people.

Spokesman of the group, Professor Samuel Ibiyemi, while addressing journalists in Ilorin on Thursday, said it was also part of its contribution to national development.

He said it had acquired 50 hectares of land in Kwara South and another 50 hectares in Kwara North to engage them in meaningful agricultural practice. Ibiyemi called on governments in the country to return to genuine agricultural practice and engage the youths in mass food production to enable the country to attain food self- sufficiency.

He said also on the government to embark on genuine programme for national development to address corruption, banditry and insurgency in the country.

He said it's sad those expected to champion genuine development were often found wanting.

Professor Samuel said "Many of the clerics who are supposed to be in position of promoting love, peace and equity in the interest of genuine development of Nigeria are fast losing focus on their roles in the society"
