Gov Ahmed Presents 2012-2015 Fiscal Framework
The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji AbdulFatah Ahmed, has presented a 2012-2015 medium-term fiscal framework to the state House of Assembly, ahead of the presentation of the 2013 budget.
The governor in a letter dated September 24, 2012 which was read by the Deputy Speaker, Professors Muhammed Gana Yisa who presided over the proceeding, said the medium-term fiscal projection was the basis for the preparation of estimates for the 2013 budget.
He said the presentation of the document was in accordance with the provisions of section 121(1) of the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria and section 18(1) of Kwara State Fiscal Responsibility Act, 2008.
In developing the projection, according to the governor, emphasis was placed on scientific approach, evidence-base, professionalism, needs, result-based, parameters, prevailing dynamics in the Nigeria's macro-economic framework was well as the global market environment.
Governor Ahmed urged the House to expedite action on the consideration of the document.
In another development, the House directed the state Ministry of Works and Transport to live up to public expectation in the supervision of public projects.
The directive was contained in the recommendation of its committee on energy, works, and transport on a petition by Rev. (Dr) A. S. Bakare over alleged threat to his house "owing to the construction of drainage work by one Engineer Asonibare along Danialu/Agbabiaka road in Ilorin South Local Government Area".
The legislature at the committee of the whole House, blamed flooding in some parts of the metropolis on lack of adequate supervision by the ministry.
It urged the state governor to approve the channelization of the run-off away from the concerned community.
The parliament also considered the report of the same committee on a petition titled: "SOS on the 15km Iwo-Isin-Owa-Onire-Owu falls road project" written by Mr. Ogunbiyi Saka Ademola, Chairman Planning Committee, Owa-Onire and urged the state governor to consider the approval of rewarding contract for the construction of the road.
The House equally directed the chairman of Ifelodun Local government Area, Mr. Muhammed Baba Kosalamala, to embark on the grading of Owa-Onire-Owu falls road project immediately after this year's raining season.
