Kwara approves N10m for National Youth games

The Kwara State Governor, Abdul Rahman Abdulrasaq has approved ten million naira for the team's planning ahead of next month's National Youth Games scheduled to hold at the University of Ilorin, Kwara state.

The 2019 edition of the games is slated to hold between the seventh and the seventeenth of September at the University of Ilorin.

Governor AbdulRahman stated this in Ilorin at the official presentation of the sports kits to all the sixteen local government areas in the state by the board of the Kwara State Football Association led by its Chairman, Mallam Idris Abdulahi.

The governor who was represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, Alhaji Shuaib Akanbi reaffirmed the commitment of the state government on youth development, through sports.

Governor AbdulRazaq reiterated government's decision to repair the floodlights inside the Main Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium to attract national and international competitions.

Also speaking, the State Chairman of Football Association, Malam Abdullahi explained that the soccer championship was organised to rebuild the credibility of football in the state.

Mallam Musa revealed that despite the lack of sponsors, his board was able to go round all the sixteen local governments to see the infrastructure on ground and then mapped out a plan to successfully stage the age grade tournament.

He called on football stakeholders in the state to offer support to the association in order to develop the game.

He said FIFA and CAF instructor; Emmanuel Obafemi commended the leadership of the Football Association for attaining a new heights within a short period of time and charged the FA to do all within its capabilities to stage a successful event.

On his part, the Secretary of Nigeria Club Owners Association, Alloy Chukwuemeka said the Kwara Football Association had set the pace for all other football associations in the country.

Chukwuemeka assured football stakeholders that the development at the state level would be duly communicated to the Amaju Pinnick's led Nigeria Football Federation.

The Director of Sports, Kwara State Sports Council, Coach Tunde Kazeem in his speech, praised the FA board for raising the standard of football in the state and called on the participating players to be good ambassadors of their various local teams.
