APC ticket: I'm not Saraki's mole, says ex-Ilorin West council boss

Date: 2018-09-29

A House of Representatives aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Asa/Ilorin West Federal Constituency, Mr Abdulhameed Oladipupo Alli, has denied being a mole sponsored to destabilise the party.

He dismissed the suspicion that has trailed his joining the race, saying he had long ago declared his intention to run for the Green Chamber's seat.

Alli, popularly known as Mr Nigeria, made the clarification when he led his supporters on a visit to the Secretariat of the Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) along Offa Road, GRA, Ilorin.

The former council boss pointed out that he defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) when the President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, switched camp from the APC but decided to return to the APC in order to realise his ambition.

He noted that his coming into the race on the platform of the state APC led by Ishola Balogun Fulani as against Bashiru Omolaja Bolarinwa executive was as a result of suspicion that he might be serving as an agent of certain politicians, who were bent on destroying the party.

He added that some party stakeholders in his ward in Ilorin West became uncomfortable with his aspiration on account of where his loyalty lies.

Alli maintained that he returned to the APC with an open mind and there was no way he could be induced and made to act at the instance of Saraki as being claimed.

The former TIC boss restated his commitment to the ideals of the APC under President Muhammadu Buhari and said he was ready to participate in the House of Representatives primary election of the party scheduled for October 3, 2018.

Alli disclosed that the national leadership of the party had cleared and certified him fit to contest the shadow election, urging members of the APC to unite and work with unity of purpose in order to triumph in next year's polls.

He, however, promised to sponsor welfare driven bills and initiate programmes that would cushion the effect of hardship facing the people if elected in the forthcoming general elections.

The former chairman of Transitional Implementation Committee of Ilorin West Local Government Area added that as a Rotarian, he believed in service to the people above self and this he had demonstrated when he held sway as the helmsman of the council.

The state NUJ chairman, Comrade Umar Abdulwahab, received the House of Representatives aspirant and his entourage alongside other executive members of the union.
