The aspiration of the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, to contest the governorship seat of the State, under the platform of the People Democratic Party (PDP), has received a boost with assurance of total support of the Christian community in the State.

The former Special Assistant to the Governor, on Christian Religion, Reverend Canon Julius Adeshina, gave the assurance in Ilorin, during his solidarity visit to the Speaker at the weekend.

Reverend Canon Adeshina, explained that the Speaker had demonstrated on several fora that he was a detribalized Nigerian and bridge builder, whom he said had been committed to the wellbeing of all and sundry, irrespective of party or ethno - religious affiliations.

He expressed confidence that the interest of Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN), under his government will be adequately protected, pointing out that he had demonstrated zero tolerance for religious bigotry in both his private and official conducts.

The Clergy called on the people of the State, to assess each aspirant, based on antecedents, pedigree and track record of achievements, rather than on only promises, to check current gale of empty promises that falsely raise expectations of electorates.

In his response, the Speaker who said he was humbled by the torrent of endorsements, emanating from various stakeholders in the State, promised to continue to justify the confidence reposed in him, by always consulting the people of the state, in his government's developmental strides, to make such projects relevant to the benefitting communities in the State.
