APC Threats Can't Win Elections in Kwara, says PDP
Date: 2018-09-05
Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday reiterated that there is no amount of threats from the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) that would make the party to defeat the PDP in the state during the next general elections.
The party however, said the new train of the party in the state led by Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, have become solidified and united to defeat any party during the election.
The National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomnhole, while addressing stakeholders of APC in Abuja at the weekend boasted that the party would defeat PDP and reclaim the state from Saraki during the next year general elections in the state.
While addressing a press conference in Ilorin yesterday, the state Financial Secretary of the party, Chief Moses Ibiyemi, said "the PDP in Kwara State is one following the defection and collapsing of the Saraki structures with old members of the party and we are now stronger than ever before to win elections in the state".
Ibiyemi who was flanked at the conference by the PDP Kwara South senatorial chairman, Chief Ebun Afolayan and the state deputy chairman of the party, Alhaji Mohammed Sani, said "we are having one PDP in Kwara and there is no any division as being raised in certain quarters and will work together to move the party forward in the state"
He said Saraki has been working with those he met in the party and we have harmonised our state working committee offices without any rancour".
Ibiyemi who described insinuations from the former PDP chairman, Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo and his cohorts that all is not well in the party affirmed that the relationship between the old members of the PDP and the new entrants from the Saraki dynasty has been very cordial and it has been a case of mutual respect and trust all the way".
"We have found in Saraki a honest, straight forward and fair leader. Instead of hijacking the party as Oyedepo and few others prophesied, the Senate President has indeed left the control of the party in the hands of all stakeholders".
He stressed that Saraki's demonstration of fairness and team playing can be seen clearly in the composition of the new state executives of the PDP in the state as the available offices were fairly distributed among the old and new members.
"We are therefore using this medium to urge a few of our members who were deceived to defect to other lesser parties by our former chairman, Oyedepo and Prince Sunday Fagbemi to come back home as there is equal opportunities for all in the PDP under the leadership of Saraki.
